Fuel your winter: Easy, nourishing meals with New Zealand beef and lamb

New Zealand beef and lamb are your winter wellness heroes. Hearty, nourishing, and packed with the good stuff your body craves when it’s cold out. Full of high-quality protein and easily absorbed iron, they’re perfect for fuelling you through chilly days and long nights. But it’s not just about nutrition.

These cuts bring serious flavour. Think rich, slow-cooked stews, sizzling stir-fries, or spicy curries that warm you from the inside out. Pair them with seasonal veggies, pulses, or whole grains and you’ve got a winter meal that’s as balanced as it is delicious. Easy to cook, endlessly versatile, and always satisfying. What more could you want this winter?

This is solid Kiwi food, reminiscent of wintery days where you need a bowl of rib sticking soup to help warm you up. Make the most of the seasonal produce and go for a wee drizzle of sriracha on top if you’re after some extra heat.

Bypass the complicated curry paste and still get all the flavour with this tender and delicious beef curry. Use whatever slow cut of beef you can find – chuck, blade or casserole beef are all great options.

This laksa puts your slow cooker to good work and packs a whopping punch. Leave the laksa to bubble away through the day and then add your noodles once you’re home. The whole family will love this.

This is such an easy dinner – sauté everything and then leave it for half an hour to bubble away and get super tender. Grab a rice pouch from the supermarket and you’ve got a dinner the family will love.

Loaded with goodness, this lasagna is a labour of love and the perfect dinner on a chilly winters eve. We like to make two and keep one in the freezer for those days when you’re pushed.

Just because it's winter, doesn’t mean you’re not busy. This dinner takes no time to pull together once you’ve got everything all diced and sliced up – but you can shortcut that by grabbing a bag of frozen vegetable mixes instead.

This lamb and oyster sauce comb is so darn good and by using tender lamb loin fillets, it comes together super quick too. Load in whatever green vegetables your family loves and this will become a regular staple.

Cook once, eat twice – it’s a motto to live by and these jacket spuds take leftover pulled beef and turn it into another meal. Topped with a little salsa and a flourish of herbs and you’ve got a hearty, delicious dinner.

Bolognese's grown up cousin, bolognese bianco has a velvety base of white wine, broth, and aromatic herbs. Made with lamb mince, this "white Bolognese" offers a lighter, more refined flavour.

The perfect foundation dish, this Mexi mine is loaded with protein and a great option to make in large batches for the freezer. Use it to stuff kumara, as a pie filling or just on toast with a poached egg.

Proving that meatballs are great all year round, kids will go nuts for these and knowing they’re loaded with veggies, we’ll happily let them! Swap the rolls for wholegrain options if you’re after the additional goodness too.

The slow cooker comes in handy to make the most unctuous beef short ribs. These are a weekend project but my goodness, so totally worth it! We love them served with plenty of brown rice to mop up the tasty sauce.
