This is a great recipe for those who love the taste of a classic homemade beef burger. Obviously, you don’t need to mince your own meat for burgers, but if you do, tri-tip is a great cut of beef for it. Fairly lean but tender and tasty. Likewise, you don’t have to use this mixture for burgers, it will make great meatballs, meatloaves or I guess any meat shape you like.
The recipe makes 4 regular or 8 smaller burger patties.
Ingredients
500g Quality Mark beef mince
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 Tbsp tomato paste
½ cup parsley
chopped1 egg
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp lemon zest
kosher salt
black pepper
handful coleslaw
4 gherkins
1 heaped tsp parsley pesto
1 tomato
slicesslices cheese
melted onto bun1 red onion
pickled and slicedburger sauce
4 burger buns
Method
Mix all the ingredients together well in a bowl.
Shape into patties of your desired size.
Fry in a medium to hot pan with a little oil until browned on each side and cooked through.
Toast buns in pan, melting the cheese slices on the bottom half of each burger bun
Spread a tablespoon of parsley pesto on each toasted bun bottom, add coleslaw, gherkin slices, pickled red onion slices, and tomato slices, a burger patty and a healthy spoonful of the burger sauce.
Alternatively, serve with your choice of burger fillings and most importantly - enjoy!
