We love New Zealand beef and know that is the best in the world. It is beautiful on the barbecue in summer with a big green salad but it is also delicious pan fried or slow cooked with those lovely winter veggies.

We’re thinking hearty stews, filling soups, easy mince dinners for families and meals that put the slow cooker to great use.

We’ve gathered our 8 most popular winter beef recipes to get you inspired.

Teriyaki beef

Grab the slow cooker and throw this teriyaki beef on in the morning. Serve it tossed through vegetable laden noodles, on a pile of rice and vegetables or even rolled into sushi should you wish!

Eye Fillet with Miso Pumpkin Mash

The hero here is the pumpkin miso mash – we serve it with everything in the depths of winter. Eye fillet can be pricey, so we’ve made this with rump steak, sliced beautifully over the top – just as delicious. Serve with a big green salad on the side.

A short rib needs time to become a lovely dish, but the time is spent simply bubbling away on the stove top. Salsa verde makes the most of pantry staples and if you’ve got any leftover, it’s divine spread on a little toast.

Few folks will turn down a wee hack to great flavour and here Jenny’s Tamarind chutney is put to the best use. Swap chuck steak for blade or casserole beef if you like and you’ve still have a delicious dinner.
