These lamb mince koftas are a Middle Eastern-inspired weeknight dinner for the family. Full of herbs and warming spices like paprika, coriander and allspice, they’re easy to shape and quick to cook.

We like to serve them with a couscous salad full of herbs and veggies, but they're so versatile. You could have them with flatbreads, or salad, and top with Greek yoghurt. Top with a little crumbled feta - it really takes these to the next level.

Ingredients

Koftas
  • 500g Quality Mark lamb mince

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

    wholemeal if possible
  • 2 eggs

  • 2 Tbsp fresh thyme

    or parsley
  • A good grind salt and pepper

  • 2 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp ground turmeric

  • 1 tsp ground coriander

  • ½ tsp ground allspice

To serve
  • plain unsweetened yoghurt

  • chopped fresh parsley

    to garnish

Method

1

In a large bowl, combine all the kofta ingredients and mix well.

2

With damp hands, shape the koftas into short logs, slightly bigger than a meatball. Set aside on a plate.

3

Heat a large pan over a high heat and add olive oil. Once the pan is hot, add your koftas and turn often to brown the outside and prevent burning.

4

Once the koftas are brown all over, reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook for about 10 minutes or until they are done all the way through.

5

Serve with parsley and a dollop of yoghurt, however you prefer. We've chosen a herby couscous salad.
